I've managed four seedlings! Woohoo! Two went into the outside cold frame yesterday, the smaller two are still in pots in the greenhouse. ( I love saying that 'the greenhouse' la-di-da). As these are supposedly outside varieties I'm hoping for great things from them as they are being cosseted probably more than they are used to! So come on melons, do your thing!
You may say I'm a dreamer... But I'm not the only one...
I'm an official nutter - an official 'cropper' of a nutter! I am sooooo pleased to be a cropper! Hurrah!
How's everyone getting on?
I stupidly went on holiday and forgot to ask someone to pop in and water mine so I came back to a seedling graveyard
I wouldn't normally even consider it but...
Thinking about planting some galia melon seeds straight out of the shop-bought fruit I'm eating just now and see what happens. Or waiting 2 weeks til payday and getting some more Sweet Granite seeds. Hmmm...
Got caught out by the early summer in April, followed by Frost. Lost a cantaloupe and others didn't germinate. Ogden in same place survived and bigger one is now in poly bed. Having lost cantaloupe and a chance find in Nursery for a well established Galia it was bought, in poly bed and has flowers.
Galia from shop may be F1 so don't expect perfect results...
I managed to buy 4 seedling melons (greenhouse was being shifted at sowing time) and after a few weeks of spring weather , they have sat there now for 3/4 weeks doing nothing, after growing them successfully for two decades all of a sudden the weather will not behave even reasonably, icy august last year, no proper spring weather this year, its june and still getting winter climate, maybe I should try some iceberg lettuce instead....
I planted some emir and have 4 plants am hoping to grow them in the cold frame, but I need to empty it first. It's still full of loads of stuff that seems to have come to a grinding halt.
Dogs have masters, cats have slaves, and horses are just wonderful
I think I sowed 4 seeds of 5/6 different melons. Never grown them before so not really sure what happens next. Big question is, which ones shall I grow and where
My Sugar baby and Grimstar water melons are just hanging there about a foot high waiting on some summer weather ??. The other melons are not looking very happy although the melon pears are getting very bushy and should start to flower soon. The tasty and easily the best to grow.
Tomato's not doing much fruit still green.
