  • Planting patio fruit trees

    Hi

I am getting some dwarf patio apple trees and one dwarf peach tree. My question is can I plant these in the ground (allotment). If so, would they get bigger if not confined to a pot?

Also, how well do peaches do outside in the Uk? I am in Norfolk

    Tricky.
You'd need to say which varieties you are getting and also find out which rootstock they are on. M26 and M27 are the dwarfs traditionally I believe.

I have some apples on m26 which I've just put in last Autumn which I was assured will continue to stay dwarfs in the ground. So far so good, but obviously that's not a lot to go on!

Peaches I think generally do ok outside if they are against a South-facing wall and are covered from the rain, protected from frosts. But again, this is from my reading up on it in preparation for doing the same and I haven't ever grown peaches inside or outside!

Sorry if this isn't much help, hopefully others will appear with more info
