When will my raspberry canes come out of dormancy?

I planted summer and autumn canes at the end of March - when will they start to show some sign of life? The roots had dried out before planting - I forgot to soak them (I'm a very novice gardener). I'm worried they might be dead. I did give them loads of well rotted manure!

Hello hellie and welcome. If you only planted them a couple of weeks ago, and there were no signs of leaves on the canes, you probably have a few weeks to wait while they establish themselves and put down roots. Keep them watered to encourage them.

Many of mine aren't showing any signs yet...won't be long before you know for sure!
Keep the roots moist with a surface mulch...they may well be setting roots at the moment.

I planted mine in December and only noticed yesterday the first signs of life, give them a while yet.

My autumn razzies - Autumn Bliss and All Gold - have been in the ground some years, but are only just starting to show signs of life.

Yip, mine have now shown a bit of growth...really thought they had died but a few leaf buds showing now.

My autumn raspberries, which have been in my garden since 2008, have only really shown signs of life in the last week or so, so be patient.

That's good to know, two of the autumn raspberries I planted a few weeks ago are showing signs of time, but the other aren't and was beginning to wonder whether they were duds or not.

they will be just settling in,as been said,keep well watered in dry weather,until they have rooted,try not to look at them for a few days,when they do start,they will soon get going,

Planted mine a month ago, (freebee ones from GYO/ T&M) Polka. already showing signs of growth on both shoots & roots. Depends what area you live in I suppose. Angie A

I bought 6 new ones which arrived in March. I can't remember what date I planted them but it must be going on for 2 months ago. There were 2 each of 3 varities. The later variety (Tadmor) got going right away, followed by the early variety (Cascade Delight) and I assumed the middle two (Polka) were dead. Now, 4-5 weeks after the others, I've just seen growth on the middle two too! So there is hope.

I bought 12 glen ample last lear and they have been in leaf (only short) for a good few weeks but the autumn blis I planted in feb had a few leaves on them when planting and then the frost got them, so I dont know if they are dead or not - could they survive this ok ??????

Autumn raspberries will shoot from the base, last year's stems can be pruned out.
