nectarine problems

My nectarine has a few fruit this year, but also is looking as though it has been squirted with tomato sauce !! It was fine when taken out of the greenhouse a couple or weeks ago but there appear to be a couple of sticky patches on the stem. We have cut off all the affected leaves and destroyed them. HELP PLEASE

Sounds like Peach Leaf Curl. Should have been OK if the plant was under cover over the winter (assuming foliage not "watered"), although I've still got mine under cover ...
