  • Are my raspberries done for?

I bought a number of autumn-fruiting raspberry canes earlier in the year. I planted them and, as per the instructions, cut them down to almost ground level. Since then - nothing. Should they be sending out any shoots yet, or am I being impatient?

I know it's only May, and it's been cold, but surely they should be showing some vague sign that they'll be providing me with a couple of raspberries by autumn...?

I wouldn't panic yet but they should be coming through about now.

...I have some Erika ones, planted in a couple of large pots and they are doing great....but the ones I put in the ground weren't doing anything so like you I thought maybe they were dead...... but had a little twiddle about in the soil around them and they're alive....so don't panic yet

Mine are only just popping their heads out...maybe during the last week or so.

Some of my 19 canes are in full leaf. Others are only pushing out some green buds. The majority were planted at the same time!

I planted 6 new bare rooted canes over the winter and they have all leafed well and look fairly healthy.

However, only 1 has produced new shoots from the ground (Glen Magna - I think). They are all different varieties, is this fairly normal ?
