Oregon Thornless Blackberry tastes very tart?
Any ideas as I do not recall it tasting like this before.
It was moved last year and is now growing along a fence from a Loganberry, wonder if it has somehow cross pollinated.
I have wild Blackberries in the garden which have been there for years and still taste sweet.
Confused, I spend most of my life confused, nothing new there.
Feed the soil, not the plants.

The proximity of the loganberry won't matter to the fruits so no worries there. Night just be jack if sunshine this year or the plant may be stressed from moving, alternatively, are you sure they were fully ripe, everything is late round here this year

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

It gets plenty of sun, so I think that can be discounted.

You're lucky, we've had far fewer hours per day this year than last

I wouldn't rule it out entirely.
Almonds can cross-pollinate with certain stone fruit trees, with fruit/nut quality being ruined. So I suppose if loganberry is a good pollinator of blackberry then maybe that could affect the fruit.

Even on my apple trees I get less bitter pit in the fruit when certain varieties flower together (therefore pollinate each other).

But more than likely the off-tasting blackberries is something to do with the growing conditions. The thornless types aren't as tasty as the thorny ones. Come to think of it: I haven't seen my thornless ones this year so they might have died-out; they're quite weak-growing and my fruit/veg growing has been a bit neglected in the last couple of years.

They must have been unripe, tried one today and it was nice.

Some fruits are fussy about being picked at the right moment.

My Laxton's Epicure apples have been ripening in the last week and they're at their best if allowed to fully ripen on the tree to the point where they drop off the tree - then eaten the same day as found on the grass.
Those last few days on the tree transform the colour and flavour. If they're picked just a day or two too early they're no better than the usual apples found in supermarkets.
