If you are unsure leave until Feb when they will obviously be dead. A few years ago my summer fruiting raspberry canes grew really well in Y1 and I had a small crop on the top of the new growth in Autumn, I was advised to chop off the top as Buffs has saiid. They did really well the following year. Raspberries are thugs so I wouldn't worry too much, in a few years you'll be digging them up and trying to get rid of them

Thanks. I'm already thinking about digging them up. I knew they were prolific, but from two plants I ended up with twenty odd canes spreading merrily out in the raised bed I put them in. I think that was a mistake. I'm going to have to cut a bunch down and transplant the suckers elsewhere to get the space back I think.
