Help identifying What Apple type

Hi

I have some apple trees with some deep red/purple apples with red flesh - please see attached pictures. They are very sour to taste. I have a feeling they are large crab apples but not sure. Does anyone have any idea what type of Apple they are and whether they would be good for cider (maybe as all percentage of the overall juice) please.

Just thought it might be worth you contacting the following site red-fleshed apples, DIVERSITY website, pictures of apples

Do you have any other info like size of tree?, possible age of tree?, where it is growing? Being a red fleshed variety certainly narrows the choices. However from my understanding weather and soil can effect the depth of flesh colour also taste is effected by its environment.
Hopefully some other grapes will be along soon to give some suggestions

Thank you for your response and the link: I will have a look at that shortly.

The trees are about 12 feet tall and in a fairly well established orchard in Cheshire. The trees are about six feet from each other. These trees with the red apples don't give a lot of fruit - although had more this year that previously. The other apple, crab apple and pear trees in the orchard give lots of fruit.
