  • Peach Tree Leaf Curl

I have a few peach trees and they were badly affected by leaf curl last year so I am hoping to treat them this year to prevent it happening again. Can anyone recommend a treatment that is effective?

Where are the trees? They suffer with leaf curl if they're in a wet position now through the winter I've heard to move them to a sheltered spot or put a shelter around them if you can. My dad used to spray his with Bordeaux mixture but still got the leaf curl?

The classic approach is to erect something to keep the rain off the leaves. Not too hard if they are fan trained against a wall, tough if they are freestanding trees. It's unsightly though however you do it.

Martin H's approach has worked best for me, as I'm reluctant to spray copper based stuff routinely.
I think it's less unsightly than a tree blighted by plc!

If you do this but still have some curl, pick off and burn those leaves at the first sighting, and feed the tree - it'll probably just replace them. Comfrey liqid each week works a treat, and really helps the fruit too.
