Just noticed that Aldi will be selling their £3.49 fruit trees next Thursday 4th February. Doesn't say which varieties will be on offer but they normally have a decent selection.

Thanks Sean.
Here's a thread from last year when we were trying to find out which rootstocks the trees would have!

Plum Rythgestetter Fruit Tree
Sweet Cherries Hedelfinger Tree (self-sterile needs a pollinator - not burlat)
Sweet Cherries Burlat Fruit Tree (self-sterile needs a pollinator - not hedelfinger)
Pear Santa Maria Fruit Tree
Sour Cherries Oblacinska Fruit Tree
Pear Williams Fruit Tree
Sour Cherries Schattenmorelle Tree
Dessert Apple Golden Delicious Tree
Pear Buttira Fruit Tree
Plum Stanley Fruit Tree
Raspberries Willamette Fruit Tree
Raspberry Tulameen Fruit Tree
they have the usual description of grows to 1.2-1.8m so guessing the rootstock is same as last year

Hi Elfeda,
The only one I would have out of that bunch is the raspberry Tulameena...very good and you will have fruit every year.
I have bought in the past:
Coxis orange pippin "apple"....that was not a cox's orange pippin
President "plum"..... that was said to be self fertile, and was not.
Bushes like blackberry, gooseberry etc you could dig up and throw away if you did not like it. But you are investing in time, and you could be disappointed. Cox's orange pippin about £18 the best apple by far.

I remembered they done it last year with the sweet cherry kordia, so just like to warn peeps
Self sterile, I read as self fertile
Wouldn't normally write self sterile, just the word 'sterile' saw the self and assumed next word was fertile.
No excuse, I'm sorry

^^^^ ah...we all make mistakes like that from time to time
I've been wondering ever since I came here why our Aldi is so rubbish compared to the UK ones....and I've just found out!
They are different branches...you have the better one!
Apparently Aldi split into 2 companies each run by different brothers years ago.
Here - have a look if you are interested...but we got the rubbish end if the deal over here
