Aldi fruit trees

Just noticed that Aldi will be selling their £3.49 fruit trees next Thursday 4th February. Doesn't say which varieties will be on offer but they normally have a decent selection.

Thanks VeggieChicken. It would appear that they're going to be even cheaper this year. Makes you wonder how the growers make any money selling them at this price.

I picked up a couple of Apple trees from BnM stores at the weekend - 2 for £8

My local Poundstretcher hasn't stretched as far as yours £3.99 each, must be a glut this year. Though I suspect they will have negotiated prices some time back, if only to get the labels printed.

A bargain! I can't stop buying them.

No Aldi near me so I don't have to restrain myself, but I've got a (very small ) Gala tree and they are eating apples, not cooking as listed.

can someone suggest me suitable fruit trees from the above list for cambridge area...and I grow them at allotment.

Hi Elfeda,

The only one I would have out of that bunch is the raspberry Tulameena...very good and you will have fruit every year.
I have bought in the past:
Coxis orange pippin "apple"....that was not a cox's orange pippin

President "plum"..... that was said to be self fertile, and was not.

Bushes like blackberry, gooseberry etc you could dig up and throw away if you did not like it. But you are investing in time, and you could be disappointed. Cox's orange pippin about £18 the best apple by far.

If it's self fertile, it doesn't need a pollinator!

They're self-sterile, not self-fertile. Quite different!!

Self sterile, I read as self fertile

Wouldn't normally write self sterile, just the word 'sterile' saw the self and assumed next word was fertile.

I've been wondering ever since I came here why our Aldi is so rubbish compared to the UK ones....and I've just found out!
They are different branches...you have the better one!
Apparently Aldi split into 2 companies each run by different brothers years ago.
