  • Compost for patio fruit trees?

Any recommendations on what compost i should use to pot up two patio fruit trees (apple and pear)?. Ive got a load of Jacks Magic, will that be ok? Or should I try something with a bit of longevity?

I've used John Innes No3 which says its for mature plants in pots. So far, so good.

I'd avoid using almost 100% peat for permanent planting. You will need to be feeding more frequently and if allowed to dry out it can be really difficult to rewet. JI No3 is the way I'd go too.

Ok, thank you. I'll go get some No3 stuff this week.
In general, would it be better if all my tub plants were in No3?

If they are shrubs, perennials etc, I would say yes. MPC is okay for annuals but still worth mixing in some slow release feed.

Excellent, thank you. I'll go and get a couple of bags this weekend. Hopefully the snow will stay away!
