Columnar Apple Trees.

Good evening folks.
hope someone can help me I'm looking to buy a couple of columnar style apple trees. after running out of space in my garden i thought i would give theses ago.
can anyone recommend a good supplier? has anyone bought cordons from blackmoors? I'm also thinking of trying them and growing them in vertical position.

im in aberdeen scotland so needs to be a suitable variety for our harsh climate.

I think Ken Muir will be the best chance, they either have or had them. If I remember they do apples, cherries, plums and other frutits in them.

I bought a crab and an apple for pollination reasons - realised at 7:30 one day that the 3 apples I had were all clased as Triploid.

The crab never really did anything, as in very few apples on it, the apple is more of a cooker, still have it. It is about 10-12ft high and I get about a dozen decent sized ones off it each year. Only "problem" is that they all seem to form at the top so getting at them is my biggest trouble.

Fruit Trees

I see they are termed Minarette and they are rated as 6-8ft. Sure mine were Columnar and rated taller. Could do a google search and see if there are more then one types/classification.

Pomona fruits sell a big selection of Cordon trees.
I bought some redcurrants from them recently and they were good quality but i cant vouch for the trees.

James Grieve is supposed to grow well in Scotland - it is only partially self fertile though so would need a Pollonation mate to get the best out of it.

How about simply growing anything you want as a vertical cordon? Summer prune only, plenty of guidance on line.
