  • Strawberry plants flowering already ?

I planted a few recently (Honeoye, Symphany, and Fenella)

Some have flowers already and one Fenella even has fruitlets forming.

To build up the root structure would anyone out there suggest cutting the flowers off now?

They should flower and produce fruit in June, at least that's what I was expecting !

    Any advice appreciated.

If they're planted this spring, I'd nip em off. I think you're on the right track about root structure and there is still plenty of time for them to produce later when they're better established.

Thanks for that Llamas - In our house strawberries have in past years been Mrs. Losos's responsibility and with 2nd. and 3rd. year plants has done well. She told me to leave them I have a feeling that a bird (Of unknown origin) might swoop down shortly and nick them For the sake of a couple of very early fruit I feel it is better to get them well established before fruiting. Of course if I do nip them off and she finds out this might be the last time I post on this forum

I don't have any Setanta, I assume they are a very early variety.
