Climbing fruits advice please

I'm looking for a fruit plant that likes the shade and will climb a wall/trellis.
It's a pretty small space, that's why I want it to climb. There will be BlackBerry next to it sort of wrapping the base of a large tree in our garden.
We already have strawberry, loganberry and raspberry planted elsewhere so ideally something different.
Oh, and I want to try to grow whatever it is straight from seed if possible.

I can't think of any fruit climber that likes shade.

Dig up your blackberry and move it there - they're your best bet for shade being woodland plants.

One reads quite often that a gooseberry fan works on a north wall, though I have no personal experience of it

Red currants and white currants are very shade tolerant and can be grown as cordons.

Japanese wineberries tolerate shade, I guess if you have bright shade or dark shade would made a difference.

If you're planting close to a large tree the soil will be full of roots and the tree will have taken all the nutrients. Just saying!

I like the idea of berries so might try them but yeah, the tree is a big problem.

I'd go with blackberries too- they're pretty tolerant of most abuse I've been able to throw at mine!

I've just pulled this off tinternet but there's loads of info about trellising them.

Thank you..I've actually got thornless that I planted last year so it might be easier to move them if I can dig a big enough hole between the tree roots.

I have some Japanese wineberries planted right next to a conifer hedge (i.e. without 20 - 30 cm of the trunks) and they survive and fruit well. Brambles also try to take over my hedge constantly. I think most rubus species are pretty tough.

I've planted a chaenamels in my shady area,you can fan train them,I don't know what the fruits like yet,I think I read theyre best cooked? But they're early flowering & good for bees & in that spot,anything with flowers is a bonus.
