Can I Plant Something Now That I Was Meant To Plant Jan to March?

Hey folks,

I'd love to buy these Goji berry seeds, but the packaging says they needed to be planted Jan to March. Would it be a bad idea to try and plant them in a week or so, if I were to purchase them? I am new to gardening, is there a reason that they were meant to be planted from Jan to March?

They are from James Wong's 'Homegrown Revolution' range from Suttons.co.uk, there are 30 seeds per pack

Let me know your thoughts x

Edit: Oh, by the way, they'd probably be in the greenhouse for quite a while as they were growing

Goji berries take a long time to produce berries, many years if ever, so you'll be fine growing them now if you have the space. You can always grow half this year half next year, and any that grow that you don't want you can use the leaves in stir-fries.

But they'll have an early sow date on them in the hopes that "they'll flower and fruit this year and if you don't sow them early enough the fruit won't ripen" But goji are pretty 'in their own time' so it doesn't matter - even if you sowed them in January they wouldn't fruit this year, so go for it.

You can get a gojiberry plant in a 9cm pot for £2 at Morrison s at the moment

Find the place in your garden with the poorest soil and plenty of sun. This plant will respond to good soil and fertilizer by making a huge amount of useless non flowering shoots that arch out everywhere. If you want fruit treat it mean. I learnt this the hard way.

I have honeyberry on my "poor" area and they should fruit this year...hopefully.. forecasted heatwave for the weekend =26deg, in very small print, for our area = 12-13deg, roll on NEXT summer...and forecasts that don't concentrate on London..

IT'S TRU THO RLY avocados are both lazy and lethal. According to a friend who lives in Mexico, they happily mind their own business putting out lots of leaves and growth and it's only when they get terrified that they're being chopped down or attacked that they decide to make kids. And then those kids get blown off the trees and start smashing cars and killing people like coconuts, because they only ripen after they've fallen.

Her grandma has one above their pool and so when she went swimming in the pool as a kid sometimes there would be a slimy rotten avocado hiding under the water.
