May put a few in the ground at the end of the summer, just as a little experiment, then keep some in pots in the greenhouse.... rhubarb from seed
I bought 2 packs off seeds from E-bay last year, Victoria & Gaskin
plante in small tub and left in the greenhouse, after a few month I moved 2 of the small plants to the garden where they quickly faded away..... this year they have re-appeared and look like they will be good for harvesting next year.. left other 2 in seedlings in greenhouse and re-potted as they grew....need to move into garden now as they are quite well established...
Good luck

When to sow - Autumn or Spring?
I have a couple of packets of Rhubarb seeds that state
"Best sown in Autumn in a shaded cold frame. The seed can also be sown in spring in a cold frame".
All the other sowing advice I've seen advises sowing in spring.
Has anyone tried sowing rhubarb in autumn?
I'm tempted

Perhaps I should try half the seed now and save half for Spring?
So glad this thread popped up again.

I've just sown seeds of Glaskins Perpetual, Victoria and Mammoth. They're all several years old so I'm not that hopeful but I have some fresher seed of Glaskins and Victoria that I'll sown in the spring if these fail.
The advice is to soak them in water for a few hours before planting - but I forgot

Little Victoria Rhubarb........AKA..LVR
I posted here after searching and found most references to Rhubarb.....If its wrong Mods pleases move it.
Here goes...
LVR entered this world approx 4-5 weeks ago, she has grown at an ALARMING rate IMO,
Mind she is somewhat 'Cosseted' by having a Temperature controlled room and Loads of Bright light (12 hours daily), she has never been cold during the night either...here she is today....
I think she looks nice and healthy, strong and am hopeful she will turn out to be a winner...?
My next dillema is that she has 'Outgrown' her present quarters and now needs more space,(I speak to her everyday andI'm sure more than once , she has smiled back at me......)
I have a choice of 'New Nursery pots ' in which to place her in the next photo.
Any advice as to which one I should go for and what to do for her to secure her future to Maturity' would be most appreciated.
I suspect that once she reaches Maturity and ready to provide 'Offspring' she will be destined to future living in a rather smelly dustbin amongst well rotted compost and FYM.
Again ,any suggestions welcome Re alternative long term accomodation and welfare.Never Let the BAD be the Enemy of the GOOD
