  • Strawberries

This year, I did some strawberries for the first time in a raised bed. After fruiting, I cut them all back to the crowns and pegged down some runners. Now, they have all grown back and have fruit on again. Even some of the runners are flowering and putting out their own runners. Is this normal or am I just very lucky? The varieties are Gauntlet, Cambridge Vigour and Elsanta.

The behaviour of the runners is normal. For the ones fruiting again, are you sure about the varieties because they might be everbearers which would fruit all year.

I can only go by the what the tags in the pots say they are. No guarantee that the tags are right of course!

I was reading that gauntlet often have a second cropping in September, but couldn't find similar information about the others,no mention of it? You're very lucky to be having more strawberries though!

Pick and enjoy quick before the mirage disappears.
Well done - you have good plants.
