  • Tomato etc. waterring system

After yet another disappointing year on growbags ... looking at moving to either large pot growing or possibly the central watering idea ... small pots continuous watering.
I tried 'BigDrippa' system - but not impressed with dripping nozzles.

Mentioned here was Quadgrow ........ also seem mention of Autopot

Welcome advice from users .. also anybody compared these 2 against each other ? - or any other recommended system.

I want to try and purchase the right thing first time.

large pots with about 1-2ins of folded newspaper in the bottom, a mix of john innes No2 and some MPC to help hold food and water, with the paper in the bottom the need for so much watering will be reduced and the john innes will hold onto the nourishment a lot longer, making the tending of the plants a wee bit easier..

I bought a hozelock watering system this year because we were going away for a few weeks and I needed to water the plants. I was disappointed at their customer service and the kit was not the same as was advertised on the box because they've stopped making the paticular timer system which was more flexible than the one they supplied.

However, it certainly seemed to work. The drippers claim to do 4l per hour and the timer system can water twice a day (sunrise and sunset) for as little as two minutes or as long as an hour. It takes a while to work out how often to water them and for how long but it seemed to work and I'll use it again in future.

Despite being away for three weeks, when we came back, the plants were healthy and well watered.

I bought 'Big dripper' system ........ not very good ... have to keep adjusting nozzles - very sensitive, unreliable
