I wonder if it could be Grenadier. . If the tree hasn't been cared for the fruit might not be true to type.

It looks a bit like my Monarch apples. I have two 65 year old trees in my garden.

Does the skin have a slightly greasy feel?

Often the pictures show them as red but they if they get the sunshine otherwise they are more yellow in colour. They do go brown quickly and when cooked go fluffy if over cooked. Monarch is a cooker but needs little or no sugar, but can also be eaten and become sweeter as they mature

We had a grenadier in my old house and I'm not sure it's that. The apples were pretty small unless heavily thinned and a pretty vivid green. Boughs were not drooping as described. The apples are ready in August/September and don't keep.
