Dates are very easy to grow from the seed, I've grown many over the years, but they have always ended up as plants for a heated greenhouse.

The leaves are also very pointy and hurty.

So, they may be OK as house plants?

Oh yes, absolutely, but in your house give them room and the brightest spot.

As I posted previously, my last sowing are about 6-7 years old and in a tropical greenhouse at work, I'll try to remember to take a picture on Monday.

What you could do is sow some date seeds every few years, so when your oldest plant gets too big, dump it and pot on a smaller one.....

Don't forget, very hurty leaves though....

After this thread I went out and bought some nice/good quality dates, had a munch and sowed the stones/seeds last Monday.

          I'll keep you posted.
