Or you could train them as single/double cordons and plant them as a hedge

Train them as half-standards or fans and sell the ones you don't want? Fruit in unusual forms fetches a few pennies...http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

Is it too late to try layering now? My mate's got a great gooseberry - produces massive fruit, and that's the one I want. So I either need cuttings or from layering. Advice welcomed.Last edited by mrbadexample; 26-03-2017, 07:58 PM.Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made

No problem at the moment on either count, but do not delay for much longer, it's starting to warm up.
Saying that, you should also be able to layer over summer.Last edited by fishpond; 26-03-2017, 08:34 PM.Feed the soil, not the plants.

Otshould be fine to peg down a branch or two now and layer it. In fact it should be fine to grab any/all pruning from the l bush as well. Stick them into the soil somewher and forget about them till autumn.
