Hello all.
I have a 3 year old dessert/sweet cherry that I have had in an airpot for a year, decided yesterday to plant in in the front garden. After planting, I decided the stake needed to go in a few extra inches, the sledgehammer glanced off the stake and I scraped the bark. It's not a big wound, but I'm worried about disease because it's a prunus and we're in winter. The edges are a little bit jagged, should I clean and dress? Clean and leave open? Do nothing?
Any advice would be very much appreciated.
