Taking cuttings from a blackberry?

I have a Loch Ness blackberry and wondered the best time of year and method to somehow grow more plants from it.
I have tried to make it root one of its vines by burying it like you would a strawberry runner but this hasn't worked. The lock ness is a very compact plant and only sends new growth from the main root unlike other varieties that pop up everywhere like raspberries.
How and when would I take a few cuttings or is there another method?

Cut some 8/10ins off the stems and shove them 3/4 depth into a greenhouse border or the like asap and by about may they will be rooted, you can put them into tall pots and place the pot in a sheltered area that gets some sun..

Stems that have just fruited or new stems ready to fruit next year? The main stem or a stem coming off a main stem?

just any stems from the plant, as if you do this the stems will go into survival mode and decide to start putting out roots, as long as they are healthy stems you should have no problems. I bought a "stick" from a pound shop some years ago and now have 17 bushes using this method, I cannot recall any failures, which says a lot for the plants will to live.... what's to lose? a few twigs?.......

That's odd, because my blackberry does that naturally: the vines grow in spring and summer until they become so long that the end bends over to the soil and roots there. So I would try the layering again in summer while the vine is still attached to the main root. Make sure the growing tip sticks out of the soil, and you might want to mulch the soil where you buried the vine to keep it moist. Then look in autumn for roots. If it somehow hasn't rooted leave it till next spring.

I do have other varieties that have rooted themselves and are popping up and re-rooting all over if not kept tidy, but this loch ness variaty is very compact, it only has 3 vines fruiting and 3 vines growing for the following year at any one time all coming from the main root, the vines are all trained against the side of my shed and grow about 6-8 feet long. I get loads of fruit off it, it's thornless and just looks really tidy unlike other blackberries that can just go mad.
It doesn't seem to want to root as easy as other varieties, this is a good thing in the sense it sort of keeps its self under control, I just cut off the vines that have fruited the previous year and that's it.
I have tried the layering technique 2 years ago without any success and tried to get a vines to root half way down last year with no success.
I think I will try what has already been suggested with some cuttings and see if that works, maybe with a bit of rooting powder.

Quick update, these are the cuttings I took when I started this thread, I took 4 from a vine that fruited last year and 4 from a vine that was going to fruit this year.
Upto now only the ones from the vine that should of fruited this year have started to show life, not sure if it's just coincidence or wether it has made a difference on which years vine you take cuttings from but a BIG THANK YOU to all that helped and it looks like I have some baby Loch Ness on the way.
