Unidentified fruit bushes

If you have any leaves on your trees we should be able to identify them. Here's hawthorn which will be in flower soon - its the May tree.

Those spines do look like hawthorn to me - and I've had a REAL good close up view of them today (as I was plucking them out of me) although mine has leaves and flowers now (great - I can take my coat off).

I'm think that it flowers and fruits on this years growth so the previous owner may have been pruning it into spurs to get the haws for jam and keep it within manageable limits..

It looks like hawthorn but we have two wild pears which show very similar thorns, I bought them, £1 each years ago to encourage the local wildlife, that's the birdlife not the local yahoos full of buckfast..
