Gooseberry bush - Moved & ripped roots

So is the pot buried in the ground? You may as well do away with the pot and just plant the bush - unless the reason it's in the pot is because the soil is sooo acid - in which case plant a blueberry.
So why burry the pot?

It will take more than that to kill off a gooseberry, plant it and trim back the foliage giving you some approx 10ins cuttings, shove these three quarters deep where you want them to grow, throw some water over them and go do things that do need attention, doing this I have 13 plants from a pound land stick and a gift, these have crossed and we now get burgundy coloured goosegogs when left to ripen properly, and quite sweet too, makes the most amazing mousses and ice cream..

Mine have rooted through the pot too - they aren't bothered by being ripped up and moved around. I would stick it in the ground if you know where you want it.http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia
