Confused? Is it too late to plant fruit trees?

Hello

I thought fruit trees should be planted in winter, but am I completely wrong? I went to the garden nursery and there were loads. Am I getting bare root trees confused with potted fruit trees? I've got a spare square on my allotment and I don't know what to plant. I had hoped to put in a blackberry plant but thought I was too late. P.S I'm in Essex (if you needed to know the temp of the area)

You can plant potted trees any time of year, it's less disturbance to the tree if it's done whilst dormant though.

..........and a blackberry isn't a tree and usually comes in a pot! I bought a couple of raspberry canes today in the supermarket, I'll bung 'em in tomorrow.

Ive only just put my fruit trees and bushes in the ground (over the last couple of weeks). If they are in pots, they should be fine (im in essex too).
