Overpruned redcurrant?

I inherited a huge (5' in all directions) redcurrant bush on my plot. Last year it had tons of fruit on it but it took up far too much space and the branches were so long they all flopped to the ground under the weight of berries.
I hard pruned it in the winter, basically taking all the branches off except any new shoots coming up from the ground or very low down on the branches. Now it's growing back strongly, but it's very upright, and doesn't appear to have many berries forming. Did I prune off off all the fruiting wood?

Yes, looks like it. They bear fruit on the old wood, unlike blackcurrants.

Yes but it was a giant,when you prune next time just cut some of the new growth & none of the old wood you've got now. This page is good -

The new growth this year will have the fruit next year so don't prune too heavily (if at all) this winter.

After that you can prune new side shoots to a few buds to keep it under control but also have fruit.

Or you could just hang some Christmas decorations on it to look like redcurrants!
