Raspberry cane pest?

Hello All,

We have a half plot allotment with raspberry canes under three fruit trees. We are both new to allotmenteering and growing fruit and veg but are keen to learn and grow our own.

I came across this on the raspberry canes, seems to be on old/dry canes but have no idea what they are!

Any ideas on what this is would be much appreciated!

Hi Marv and welcome to the Vine
I don't know what has caused the holey thing but you should prune out the dead canes anyway. Otherwise they become congested and its harder to pick the lovely luscious fruits!

Thanks for that! , I had thought that but always seem to get side tracked away from pruning! Will make it a priority this week
