  • Ruby falls

Well, my long anticipated T&M order finally arrived and I am the proud owner of 3 ruby bush raspberry canes and 2 ruby falls trailing raspberry canes.

I will likely plant 2 of the ruby bush canes in a large pot and the 3rd in another.

I wañted to ask on here if anyone had some of the trailing hanging basket ruby falls raspberries and if so did you go with a hanging basket or did you use a lot with canes to train and tie ?

    Thanks in advance

Lol. I had seen those thanks VC, I even started one of them

Seems to be a little about the ruby beauty bush container one but struggling to find anyone who actually tried the ruby falls variety in a hanging basket as the sellers show. I would be worried about them drying out so may do a lot with bamboo canes to train the falls variety

Nick, I have difficulty growing anything in a hanging basket as I''m hopeless at keeping up with watering them. A raspberry in a hanging basket is a step too far for me. Sounds too much of a novelty item to take seriously.
Can you bung it in a tall pot instead?

The only way I can grow anything in a hanging basket is if I leave the basket on the ground next to the watering can and hose. I'm louse remembering about watering them and usually only remember them when I hit my head on them.

It'll be interesting to find out how the Ruby Falls works out from a basket; I was temped a couple of weeks back to get one, along with a trailing thornless blackberry one too (http://www.thompson-morgan.com/fruit...scade/t70647TM).

At the moment I have 4 hanging baskets with 2 each of tumbling toms and florian strawberries, with just 1 plant in each to hopefully make it easier keeping on top of the watering.

I might have a little look again at the hanging basket fruits but if I put more fruit or vegetables in the garden it may be the start of WW3 with the wife..
