Raspberry advice (again please!)

I have never grown raspberries before so i have no idea what i am doing!

Problem 1.
I ordered some canes in March. Planted them. Then a week later i got offered a new larger plot and so about 2 weeks after planting i moved the canes. Very very carefully! However, on a couple no new shoots have appeared. On the other few there are new shoots but they are very small and fragile looking, on one cane the new growth has died back already. Varieties are Joan J and Autumn Gold. I ordered from a small garden centre so doubt they have been kept badly. Advice / opinions here would be appreciated

Problem 2.
On my new plot i inherited loads of raspberrys! Some are summer ones, no idea what they are. The others are Glen Ample which i thought were an autumn one. Anyway, they are already fruiting but the raspberries are pretty small. About half the size of a regular one. Any ideas why? Have i not watered enough etc or are they becoming old etc?

Problem 1. Both Joan J and Autumn Gold are autumn fruiting varieties that will fruit on current years growth. The old canes they had in March fruited last year and are no longer needed. This year's fruit will come from new green canes that grow this year from below ground. If that new growth has shrivelled and died then the plants are probably dead I'm afraid.

Problem 2. Glen Ample is a summer fruiting one that fruits on sideshoots from canes that grew last year. The fruit should be forming now. However it has quite large fruit and it's not the earliest, so if your plant is ripening now and has small fruit it's not Glen Ample. Maybe it's Glen Moy or one of the other early summer varieties.

I'm assuming you're somewhere in the UK, if you're elsewhere maybe the season is more advanced but still hopefully this is some help.
