Hi all, I bought watermelon seeds from lidl a while back, it said may sowing, but I have sown it yesterday (8th June) is this a problem? And any tips? I know they require heat so I'm going to keep it in my plastic greenhouse. I'm not actually expecting anything miraculous, just experimenting, any advice to help would be great.

Most varieties require a long season, there are a few that ripen early but without the variety it's hard to say. You could try it and see what happens and at worse you'll need to buy new seeds next year. Or you could save the seeds for next year a d sow in early May.

if you can get them growing and have a greenhouse for them ,they grow at an amazing rate, and I grew mine with the foliage and fruit sitting on a raised wire mesh, thats chicken wire with plastic netting on top, and I kept the doors and vents closed to raise the temp to what they like, if we got an indian summer, 18-20deg in sept and warm into October you will get a decent melon, just go for it and keep it as warm as possible, and you would not believe the taste...
