When should I remove grafting Tape?

I did some grafting earlier this year in late march/april.

I used electrical tape on some and grafting tape on others.

Just wondering when I should remove the tape on the ones that have taken, my plum trees for instance have grown shoots that are 2-3 foot now

Pear trees maybe 1 foot

Apples vary, 6 -12 inch shoots

I leave it until it falls off on its own with grafting tape or elastic bands , not used electrical tape

I've been removing the tapes on some on mine this week. Take a look at one, if there's callus around the graft you're good to go. You can always retape them if they're not fully healed. I've also put some thin canes in mine, the wind this week hasn't been fun.

I took the tape off my plum

There isnt a calous yet but good join

Ive put a cane in there for support

Should I retape?

They took very well but that might be because I took the scion myself from a neighbours tree (with permission) and grafted it stright away.

My other grafts which scions came through the post were no so good
