[QUOTE=keble;1544329]Wait, are you saying you've had the apple in a pot for 40 years?! I've resigned myself to thinking that my espaliered pear in a container will be short lived compared to one in the ground. Looking forward to seeing your photos
No, I am saying I have been using the same feeding regime for about 40yrs, the apples are between 8-12yrs in their tubs, but I tip them out every 5-6yrs, scrape away the old compost around the sides and bottom and new No3 used to refill the gaps, done in nov/dec, the plants put their roots into the new compost over winter and they are ready when I feed at the end of Feb..

we collected all the ripe blackcurrants, raspberries and peaches on Wednesday and the berries are now jams, mousses, ice creams and sorbets, I know, its tough, but somebody has to do it.. the peaches are great, and I managed to take some poor photos of them and the giant blackcurrants above my red, white and blue tatties, and the sun was out so it was a magic day..

My Wife's Uncle has a greenhouse dedicated to peaches. I had my first experience of one the other day... WOW, i've never had one so juicy and flavourful.
