I have 3 gooseberry bushes two green one red ,red is doing ok but no fruit on my green ones they are all 2 yr old, they look healthy just no fruit.

George - did you prune the bushes earlier in the year?

I've several red gooseberries which I'm training as triple cordons. This is the third year and they’ve got quite a bit of fruit. Last year I barely got any as they had very little old wood. Gooseberries fruit where the new growth comes out of the previous seasons wood.

These things take time - try to keep the centre of the bush open if you prune them - bit like a miniature apple tree. They will often last 40 years if looked after, so try to give them a good start.

Next year in the spring check to make sure they have flowers on them. Don't prune too hard, as gooseberries fruit on old wood.
