  • what kiwi vines have I got?

In May 2013 I bought a Jenny Kiwi, it was 3-4ft tall
In June 2013 I bought a self-fertile (cannot remember the name) Kiwi, it was 3-4ft tall.
They were planted on the day that they were purchased.
They are 6 feet apart against a 4ft solid timber fence.
The fence is SE facing and the vines get sun from early morning to mid afternoon.
In 2014 they had grown up a trellis on the top of the fence, and started to grow across an open pergola.
Each year both produce lots of white flowers, and in summer one has small fruits which grow to the size of a large grape. The other vine has not produced any fruit.
Unfortunately I cannot remember which vine is the Jenny, the size of the fruit might be a clue?
I know that some vines take time to establish, but one has produced fruit for 3 years and the other has not. They are 6ft apart and the conditions are identical? They are 10 ft across the pergola.
Does anyone know what the other vine is? Which is the Jenny? And will they both produce fruit?

      Hi and welcome
Were the fruits furry? Jenny has furry fruit about the size of a plum. I think Issai has smooth fruit the size of a grape.
Jenny is a thug and will take over your garden if you're not strict about pruning. Don't ask me how I know

I totally forgot to say hello.

        Hello.

I've got a different self fertile kiwi, Sol, which so far has failed to produce any thuggish behaviour. It's been in about a year and a half and is almost filling up its alloted space just now.

No flowering just yet but I didn't have that on the calendar for another year or two.

The fruits are similar to the ones in the shops, but smaller.
So It may not be Jenny because the fruit are small.
Do young Jenny vines produce small fruit?
and it cannot be Issai because the fruit are not smooth skinned.
It is really confusing because both produce lots of flowers, and only one has produced fruit (so far)

When I lived with Jenny, until she completely took over the garden and got the chop, the flowers were yellow. It took a few years before she fruited - but I don't remember how many. She didn't fruit until late in the year - think I picked them in November.
            Not much help is it?

Found the old thread - no pictures though,
