Winter wash

I have a bit of powdery mildew on my vines; not a serious outbreak but I want to make sure it does not overwinter in the bark. Tar oil, lime sulphur, and all the other fungicides have been withdrawn from gardeners and even ***** fluid has been reformulated, removing the tar product that was fungicidal. The problem seems to be that the EU regs are so difficult and so expensive to comply with that companies have decided to supplying licensed users only. What really grates my carrot is that although this is supposed to protect us, the produce we buy is smothered with these products!
I hear that there are winter wash products using organic oils. Do they actually work?

still possible to buy copper-sulphate crystals and lime separately - its not quite like the commercial stuff but you can put together your own version of Bordeaux mixture. I would use that on dormant growth, if it had an issue that needed treating.

Not for me they haven't. I've seen no benefit from using them at all.

Regarding the liquid we don't appear to be able to mention. Has the formula changed ? I know it's thinner than it used to be but their website implies it's the same.

I am told that the unmentionable liquid has been reformulated and while it is still a very good disinfectant the tar material which gave it fungicidal properties has been removed.

I did find a reference to Armillatox which has been withdrawn as a fungicidal spray but has however been rebranded as a patio cleaner to get rid of moss and mould. Does anyone on the forum have information on this product.
