Id pretty much given up this year on fruit and the last tubs of apple sauce were used at the weekend. BUT look what I found...




Not only have I found a local(ish) fruit orchard but he has lots of heritage and regional trees, they're all older standard trees carrying far too much fruit for mr squirrel to take. I don't think he does a lot of farm gate sales though,I have no idea why when he was charging less the 25% of the supermarkets prices for real, local fruit.

Mother Lard snaffled them ! I only managed a slice. Max is very picky, he'll have your arm off for an egremont or the brookes but wont touch the juicy deserts or the cookers.

Less said about my cider attempts the better burnie

I'm starting to think along the same lines. Growing fruit is difficult in my location but I'm hoping to find locals willing to sell theirs. In the past, some of the 'old boys' used to sell through the local shops. But all of that was stopped by some inspectors, I'm guessing due to provenance and health and safety rules. Great shame though. Not easy to buy a really good greengage from the shops or local market. You've got a great find there.
