I have a few of the white blackberry varieties and they vary greatly in hardiness and cropping and taste I suspect the polar berry is a trendy new name for a older white type
Eg
A lot of this renaming I suspect is more to do with patterns, I've seen 'name patterns' on old types, most people don't realize it's just a new name for an older type, think it's a patterned plant rather than just the name and so are scared off reproducing it and passing it on themselves. The confusion makes big bucks for big corporations. One of the ones I seen is 'first berry' which are just in fact honeyberries.
I've had these for 3 years and every year the same problem; masses of blossom but the fruits don't set. They flower quite early though (April / may) and the odd flush of blooms later in the year seem to set better, but there's so few of them. It may be that the insects which pollinate this type of flower aren't around that early, or maybe because they are in an isolated part of the allotment. I'll dig them up this year and stick them next to the raspberries which flower roughly the same time so hopefully the larger area of flowers should attract more pollinators.
