I've gratefully inherited some strawberry plants which I've been growing with minimal success for a couple of years. Last year I settled on a cultivation method that seemed to work, but whether because it wasn't a great growing season or because of variety, any fruit I got wasn't very sweet or flavoursome.
I've been thinking about buying some, mostly to know exactly what I was working with, but am utterly bemused by the range of varieties and what to look for. We're wet, chilly and short growing season here, but now I'm growing them off the ground mould seems to be less of a problem.
Favourites, please?
