I would sow now. They grow like triffids but need a long season to ripen. Keep indoors until after frosts. They are tender.

I had a few seeds from VC years ago - they took over the GH! But will carry on ripening after the toms are spent if undercover.

Mine haven't ripened yet. Its a long wait but worth it. Must sow some more!

Despite being a huge sprawling mass last year, mine failed for the first time. Plenty of husks but they were just empty. I normally just replant a self sown seed from the greenhouse floor each year but I'm considering going back to fresh seed.

I've had this. Not a failure, mice have beaten you to it!

If you use traps put them in a box as robins often rummage around. I gave up with trap after catching frog!

I didn't think of that ! rodents are a huge problem here.

I gave up with traps when the mice ate the bait off the rat traps and the rats made off with the mouse traps, even though they were staked down. I have bait boxes now but the rate they eat the poison I think I'm just feeding them.

I think the stuff available to the public takes a lot longer to act. Four blocks at a time would disappear, presumably taken back to nest but I haven't seen a rat for ages. Got loads of mice in rat traps and a couple of rats. Often traps were licked clean.

There must be a lot of rodents around as I hear owls most nights.

My seedling doing very well,stems are bit purplish color but i think this is a way they are.I have potted around 20 yesterday, and still got a lots but I cant keep all of them
