  • Pear tree grafting

Hi I have a small 4 foot conference that produced fruit in its first year, so the end of last year I have successfully grafted a Concorde cutting to a stem. Has anyone else had success doing this? I am also looking to graft another 5-6 or more varieties to it and if anybody kind person has a 6" cutting of differant varieties I will pay for the postage etc... thanks in advance

Hi Durham Digger and welcome to the Vine.
Have a read of the Forum Rules about asking for seeds and plants or taking part in the Seed Swaps http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...nce_76437.html
Basically, you need to have been a member of the Vine for 3 months and to have made 50 posts.

Meanwhile, I'm sure someone will be along who can advise you about grafting.

I have struggled with pear grafts. Pear varieties are more fussy about their root stock, but if you stick with younger/ more common varieties you will be fine.

My tree is only say 3 yo and the cutting came from a similar aged tree so maybe that's why it worked out???

          Fruit tree top working

Ideally the graft should be on one year old growth and so should the scion wood.
