  • Raspberry yellow rust

Hi can anyone confirm if this is yellow rust on my raspberries I’ve looked online but the pictures don’t look exactly like this
If it is how do I get rid of it
If I cut all the canes down to the ground will that work or will the spores just grow next year.

I'm not sure if its rust or not - if its just a few canes affected I'd chop them out and bin them - if however its the majority, then I'd leave them untouched and see how things look in a month or so. If it is a widespread problem it will be easier and more effective to dig up a replant over the winter than try anything now. With a bit of luck the plants will pull through OK on their own.

I wouldn't do anything this season. The leaves look a good healthy darkish green, which is pretty good going for raspberries, as they will be doing the job they are meant to do - photosynthesise.

Hi thanks for the advice I have been removing the infected leaves as they appear but June has been very wet so they haven’t had a chance to dry out they are supposed to be autum raspberries Himbo Top but they have flowered early and the fruit is already forming on this years canes after they have finished ill prune them all down and burn the canes and leaves hopefully next year they’ll be ok if not I’ll dig them out and start again
My Logan berries and Tayberries are unaffected

Looks like yellow rust to me. I find polka is bad for it, my other varieties seem to mostly resist it
