This is the second one I've picked, not quite ripe, but I have a few more growing and I am reducing the load on the plants.

Here are our Waltham butternuts from this year. We got 12 fruit from 2 plants grown in a 2x1m raised bed. Not that they stayed confined to that bed...they rambled off all sides, half way up the lawn, through the back border, all the way round the back of another raised bed and towards the shed. They were harvested a few weeks ago and left to cure in the sun. Only two (not in the photo) were picked not fully ripe. Now they're on a shoe rack in the loft. The big boy top left weighs 5.5kg!Last edited by toomanytommytoes; 01-11-2019, 06:27 PM.
