Well done gcroft, i planted white turnips for the first time also and have dug one or two . I'm well pleased as i was'nt sure how they would do.

Well done Gcroft - it is very satisfying to stand back and say "I grew that".

Nice one gcroft, never tried turnips myself but yours look tasty- might give them a go next year. My red onions have bolted as well, thinking of chopping them up like spring onions in salad.

Here is a photo of my first pickings this year - taken a week and a half ago. As I type, Iona is watching Singing Kettle and shelling a colander full of peas

Gosh Rat, I'm well impressed. Everything looks such a good size and no marks or holes in. Well done.

The carrots in the photo are Paris Market which I got from Nick and grew them in an old plastic basin on my greenhouse staging.

My daughter and her husband decided earlier on this year to start veg gardening. I duly raised seedlings etc and passed them on - there are VERY new too all this!.

They popped over the other day to my place and went away with enough french beans and swiss chard for their evening supper. There must be something wrong here - their veg garden is probably the size of my front garden and they have not had any extra to bring to me - yet I managed to feed them from my little 6 x 4 approx bed!
