  • Photos of my veg

Been playing around with the digital in the backyard and thought I'd post some pics here for you all to see...nothin exciting, just veg

The aubergines are Mini Rossana, Carrots are Early Nantes, Beans are French, Cabbage is Mini Savoy and the pumpkins are seeds that I got from friend and we have no idea what they are called.

They look great Missymoo, did you grow the carrots in the container that's next to them? I tried growing 'Early Nantes' in a large pot but I gave up, they took ages to germinate & then something ate them as soon as they got a few inches high! Hope you enjoy eating your harvest.

Your veg looks fab Missy - I'm especially jealous of your cabbage - mine is full of holes Just wanted to say your pumpkin looks remarkably like the cantaloupe melons I grew! I grew them on the greenhouse floor by mistake (I didn't read the packet properly), but apart from having to tread carefully they didn't suffer any and were the sweetest, juiciest melons I've ever tasted - I had to take loads of developing fruit off and in the end grew 5 from 2 plants - got one left and intend to savour it

Lovely veg MissyMoo. I grew Early Nantes in containers and they were great. Will be growing a lot more next year. I had no success at all with aubergines in the greenhouse. Were yours outdoors? It's been such a good summer that I was disappointed. I'll try again next year with a different variety.

                        awww shucks!

Thanks guys....your veg admiration makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside!

I did indeedy grow the carrots in the pots. I've had little success with sowing them direct into the veg beds although I have a nice little crop from starting them off in loo rolls and then planting them out. Strangely the Early Nantes have done better in the pots than the Baby finger ones.

The Aubergines are in the conservatory and I've spent a lot of time annoying people by opening and shutting doors trying to regulate the temperature...which is why I think they have been so successful. I have three plants and have had about 50 fruits off them in total with more still growing...they are the star of the show.

The cabbages are a bit holey Bibliobeck, I've just artfully arranged the photo so they don't show!!! I feel like I've been squishing bugs for my entire life...definitely have a green thumb now!!!

you need a bike pump May just be the time of year Remy. Some of mine are still small. Alternativly it could be down to all the dry weather we are having & now we've had a touch of moisture () they may well start to swell.
