Ah, but with age comes wisdom and experience Jimbo, the sort of thing you can share with all us eager youngsters on here, all looking up to those with much more experience than we have!

Hope that you mods are still on the case for a virtual show this year - WHAT A FAB IDEA! - I only spotted this thread from last year as (nosy old me!) was looking at wot our guests were looking at..........
BTW suggest that if newbies are looking back over this thread they gloss over all the brownies/scouts references as I'm pretty sure that it's not all wholesome viewing! LOL!

Reason: typo!
Cool, just hope we manage to grow something worthy of an entry! Being our first year of GYOing I'm still not sure we'll actually manage to grow anything edible!
Only just come across this thread, didn't realise I was in such august company!
Look forward to the virtual show, but not confident we will have anything worth entering as we aint going for giant veg and mostly eat it all! I suppose I could put some parsnip wine in, but how would it be judged????!!!
(I joined the Guides for a few months, but couldn't get to any meetings, so put my son through Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and became a scout helper which allowed me to go on camps etc. It was great fun!)

I have just been reading your plans Snadger for using photo imaging software to - shall we say - pump up your pumpkin!!!
You should know by now LJ that a good gardener uses whatever means are available to achieve a satisfactory result!

Alice first I have to make sure that Dave (Admin) is happy with my plans, then hopefully get a new board especially for the show and then I can post the show shedule. At the moment both Ben and Dave are very busy.
There should be something for everyone to enter. We want it to be fun not a stuffy show!
If anyone has suggestions for classes please post them.
Jings LJ ! No one wants a stuffy show. I liked the suggestion for the tallest bolted lettuce. Sorry I can't remember who to credit that to . Might have been Alison.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.
Erm, largest Pumpkin class for Snadger, Longest Chilli for all in the Big Jim challenge, rudest veg, biggest onion, biggest melons , longest bean, smallest potato, smallest cauli, longest carrot, most chillis on a plant, there's loads!
What about best use of recycled materials, best home made garden structure, most improved plot, tidyest plot, etc!
