  • Potato Days

Last year Geordie kindly reprinted the details of the Potato Days that I had collected on my site, this year you can have it straight from the horse's mouth (if horse's can produce web pages).

For those who haven't heard about them, Potato Days offer a large selection of varieties (mine in Hampshire has the most with ~150) but also the opportunity to buy as many tubers of a variety as you want (as little as 1). The idea is that if you only have a small garden you can still try more than one variety or, even if you do have large plot or allotment, you can pick half a dozen tubers of a few varieties that you haven't grown before just to see if they suit your ground and you like the taste.

Most of the days also offer advice from an expert (Hampshire's has grown over 380 varieties and won an RHS Gold Medal for dsiplaying them), cookery demos, talks and things for the kids to do whilst Mum and/or Dad enjoys themselves.

    The list is at http://thewhitchurchweb.org/potatoday/potatodays.htm.

With the best (of course) at http://thewhitchurchweb.org/potatoday.
If you know of any others please let me know so that I can publicise them

Thanks for that Phil, and we do miss Geordie. Hope he will be back with us soon. Even Hello would be nice.

Links don't work for me unfortunately. I heard there was a good one near Newbury though.

Hi Phil and welcome to the Vine. Thanks for that. I only found out about last year's too close to the event to plan it in. I probably ended up working. At least now I can put it in the diary. Look forward to it.
          Bright Blessings

Thanks Phil, I've never been to one of the 'Potato days' & might try to get to the Cheshire one as I only really want a couple of each variety to try & that sounds like just the right event for me.
