my sunflowers

hi my sunflowers the bigest 8 foot 1 in tall
just to give perspective i am 6 foot 4in tall
wow what a monster.

Not sure of the variety, but it's the bushiest Sunflower I've ever grown and it had three flower heads.

I couldn't get a stroppy teenager to stand beside it for height verification but they conceded to hold my ancient Stanley tape at the top while I took a picture of the height.

8ft 11in.
(I realise that it's not much of a verification as the top of the tape could have been anywhere!)

My tallest sunflower

I grow some sunflowers "gaint yellow". This one is the tallest one. I have not measured it. I am 1.6m and hubby is 1.8m, so I guess it is about 4m .

It has been windy and the flower head is getting heavy so hubby put a pole up to support it and put some soft hose pipe around the neck to stop the flower head to bend down.

After much faffing around the sunflower is 11ft 8inches. I'm 5ft 1

Drat measured ours yesterday and thought we were on to a winner but it's only 10 foot 2 inches

It's not as tall as the ones above, so I didn't bother measuring it. The canes in front of it are 8 ft canes. (it's self-sown ... all mine are, they don't seem to like being planted by me)

Can I have a booby prize for 'shortest sunflower', it's only about 6inches tall, O.K. it's supposed to be a dwarf variety but it is tiny & very pretty!
