  • I Carrot Believe It!

Just found this little beggar growing in a pot that I took a cucumber plant out of a while ago & was putting a few tulip bulbs & pansies in. It's the only carrot which has come up from the early ones I sowed at the beginning of the year & gave up on as they disappeared as soon as they germinated. I re-used the compost & pot for the cucumber & now this skinny little carrot has suddenly appeared. I've left it to see if it gets any bigger & then I might eat it ceremonially by itself!

I've found carrots coming up ages after I'd given them up for lost, also found that when thinning out (this was the lot I grew after I thought the first lot were gonners) the light must have got to seed in the soil as other little fronds start appearing, is this the case?

I sowed some around this time last year & some came up some didn't , I wasn't suprised as it was old seed. But I dug the bed over in the greenhouse earlier on & I've had 4 carrots & a tomatoe suddenly appear

Hope you get that carrot for your Christmas dinner SueA. I grew Early Nantes in long toms this year and the crop was phenomenal. Can't believe I didn't take a pic. Just hope I can pull it off again next year. Will definitely take a pic and post it for the world to see. Enjoy that carrot.

This was an 'Early Nantes' Alice, bit late though wasn't it! I think it must be as the other Sue says that it was left in the compost & then got disturbed when I replanted, it's in there with some bulbs & pansies now.
